Ford Mustang

3D carved cake in the shape of a Ford Mustang. As i was preparing for this cake i was watching a show on tv when they were making a cake similar to this. the lady was saying how most people think it's easy to make a car out of cake (i thought that) but that it is actually pretty tough to make it....and i agree. I had a LOT of help from scott to make this cake. Together we did it!!
The back of the car. He celebrated his 21st birthday on Christmas day!
This is the front of the car. It's not too easy to make a horse look like a horse when it's that small.

motorcycle cake

This was my first attempt at a carved 3d cake. it is supposed to look like a motorcycle, just in case you can't tell :) It's a chocolate pound cake with chocolate filling. it was stressfull during the carving of the cake but with scott's help i think it turned out pretty cool!

Daddy Daughter Birthday

Happy Birthday to Troy and Tayla. My friend, Shea, asked me to do a daddy daughter cake. Their birthdays are only a few days apart so they were having a joing party. Tayla didn't know she was getting a cake. Shea told me that when they got to the party location Tayla kept asked her mom why she didn't have the cake made. she was very concerned about it. She was quite surprised when Shea walked through the door a few minutes after that with this cake. This was the Daughter side of the cake. Tayla turned 13!!! She has a passion for cheerleading. She has a bunch of quotes on her blog about cheerleading so i copied those onto the cake. my personal favorite one is "wimps lift weights, cheerleaders lift people"

This is the Daddy side of the cake. Troy enjoys the great outdoors. from hunting to four wheeling to fishing. We had a little fun with this side. we decided to put Troy asleep with his line cast out and the fish are jumping all around. isn't that usually how fishing goes, nothing bites when you want it to :)

This was a side view of the cakes

Braxton's Bakugan Cake

For Braxton's birthday he requested a Bakugan cake. He said we could pick which one we did...but it HAD to be 3-D.

After he blew out the candles, he wanted to eat the head!!! pretty funny!

Hayden's 1yr smash cake

This is our adorable niece Hayden. She turned 1 and we made a "smash cake" for her. and i wasn't thinking and made this adorable RED and BLACK ladybug. for those who know why i say this you are probably laughing...for everyone else those are the two worst colors i could have picked. see the after picture below and you'll see why... even after the bath she was still redish....oops. sorry danielle!!!! all i can say is it made for fun pictures

Horse Vaulting

This was a birthday cake for Jessie, she does horse vaulting. Which is basically gymnastics on the back of a horse. Jessie's little brother, David, helped me with this cake. He has a real passion for cooking and his mom asked if he could help. It was fun to watch him take such time and pay such attention to the smallest details. He did a great job!
For the base of the cake i decided to print out pictures of Jessie in action and wrapped them around the cake. It turned out fun! The letters for the name and number are cut out of a gumpaste/fondant mix and then dusted with edible glitter.
The girl on top is gumpaste. Unfortunately i didn't have the courage to attempt the horse out of gumpaste too, but i figured it could double as a birthday gift! David also said his sister likes flowers. He said "She loves horses and flowers." So i suggested we make flowers to put on the cake but he didn't want them 3D. She likes to draw them in black and white. So i drew some flowers with royal icing on the side of the cake.

Camera Cake

For those of you who know my dad you will find this cake very fitting! He always has a camera attached to him. This is a replica of his old camera, which we are currently borrowing :)

I tried to get ever detail on the cake that is on the camera...i think this cake took the most time to decorate. There are a lot of little details on a camera that i didn't realize until i made this cake.

Happy Birthday Dad! We love you!

Happy Birthday Jeffrey!!

Outdoors inspired cake for our brother-in-law Jeff's birthday. Happy Birthday Jeff!
After we made the feet poking out of the tent we decided if Jeff were camping, he wouldn't be asleep in the tent...especially with a fire burning. He would be out hiking around.
This is a top view of the cake. The path is carved into the cake as it wraps around the second tier. There are rice crispie treats on the side of the cake to give it a rocky look. This was a fun cake to make!!

Tinkerbell's House

My husband Scott asked if he could make his niece's birthday cake...so here is his creation! He did an amazing job, especially for his first cake. He's helped me before but this was the first time he took charge and did everything!
